For Media & Press
Fast facts, expert commentary and contact details for journalists.
EV Roadside is an independent Australian publication covering what happens when an electric vehicle needs help — roadside assistance, mobile charging, towing, and finding a charger when the battery is lower than you’d like. This page is for journalists, editors and producers who want to cite our research or speak to us on the record.
What we can comment on
We’re happy to provide background or on-the-record commentary for stories about:
- What EV roadside cover actually includes in Australia — and how it differs between motoring clubs, insurers and carmaker programs.
- Running out of charge — what happens, what’s covered, and what a flat traction battery means versus a flat 12V battery.
- Towing an EV — why most EVs shouldn’t be towed on their drive wheels, and what that means for a callout.
- Mobile EV charging — where it exists in Australia, how much range a roadside top-up really adds, and its limits.
- Public charging gaps — what the network looks like for drivers outside the major cities.
How to cite us
- Attribute to “EV Roadside” with a link to the specific page you’re referencing.
- Our guides are dated and updated as policies change; please cite the page as accessed on your publication date.
- For a tailored quote or to confirm a detail before publishing, email us — we’d rather get it right than be paraphrased loosely.
Editorial standards
EV Roadside exists because Australia’s roadside assistance industry was built around petrol cars, and EVs change the rules. We read the product disclosure statements, check provider websites, and turn it into plain English.
- Independent. No motoring club, insurer, charging network or carmaker owns us or pays for coverage.
- Researched, not sponsored. Nobody pays for placement.
- Kept current. We date our pages and update them as the market moves.
We’re a publication, not an emergency service. If you’re reporting on a live incident, the relevant emergency number is 000.

Usually, yes. We can speak to what EV roadside assistance covers in Australia, how providers differ, mobile charging, towing rules for EVs, and what drivers should do when a battery runs flat. Email hello@evroadside.com.au with “Media” in the subject and your deadline.
