About EV Roadside

Who we are and how this site works.

EV Roadside is an independent Australian guide to what happens when an electric vehicle needs help: roadside assistance, mobile charging, towing, and finding a charger when the battery is lower than you’d like.

Why this site exists

Australia’s roadside assistance industry was built around petrol cars — jump starts, jerry cans and tow hooks. EVs change all of that. A flat traction battery can’t be topped up from a can, most EVs shouldn’t be towed on their wheels, and the help you get varies a lot depending on which club, insurer or carmaker you call.

We read the product disclosure statements, check the provider websites, and turn it into plain English so you know what’s covered before you’re standing on the shoulder of a highway finding out.

How we work

  • Independent. We’re not owned by, or affiliated with, any motoring club, insurer, charging network or carmaker.
  • Researched, not sponsored. Information is drawn from providers’ official published material and reputable Australian sources. Nobody pays for placement or coverage.
  • Kept current. Pricing and policies change; we date our pages and update them as the market moves. If you spot something out of date, tell us.

What we’re not

We’re a publication, not an emergency service, and nothing here is professional advice for your specific situation. If you’re in danger on the road, call 000. For coverage decisions, confirm details with the provider — policies change faster than any website.
